This year has been an exciting and formative one for Brooklyn Specialist Training Solutions, marked by growth, clarity of purpose and a renewed focus on making a real difference in high-risk working environments.

One of the biggest milestones was the launch of the Brooklyn STS brand. Alongside this came a new website and social media presence, bringing all BSTS training into one clear, accessible place for the first time. These changes have helped us better explain what we do, why it matters, and how our specialist training supports safer outcomes in challenging and often unpredictable workplaces.
A major highlight of the year has been shining a spotlight on our specialist Confined Space Casualty Care Training. Developed by founder David Nice, this course was designed specifically for confined space first aid - an area he feels deeply passionate about. Drawing on years of frontline emergency and rescue experience, David recognised that standard training often doesn’t go far enough when incidents happen in complex, hazardous spaces.
This has led to an ongoing campaign to encourage existing training standards to go one step further. The ask is simple but powerful: an extra 30 seconds of focused casualty care training that can make a dramatic difference to rescue outcomes and save lives. It’s about moving beyond minimum compliance and equipping people with the confidence and skills they genuinely need when seconds matter.
Throughout the year, we’ve continued to work with both long-standing and new clients, delivering bespoke first aid training directly in their workplaces. From Roadside Technologies and MTS to Elite STR, every organisation we work with brings its own risks, challenges and learning needs, and nothing beats hearing the real-world impact our training has once it’s put into practice.
Here’s what Steve Walton, Warehouse Production Manager at Roadside Technologies, had to say after completing our three-day First Aid at Work course: “This has been the most effective First Aid training I have actually been on… this one was head and shoulders above everything else, partly because of the way it was delivered in terms of tone, partly because of the content and also the industry knowledge they provided.”
We’ve also enjoyed engaging in open and constructive debate on LinkedIn about why medium-risk confined space training needs to go further. Debate matters. Without it, meaningful change in the industry simply doesn’t happen, and we actively encourage challenge, discussion and shared learning.
Looking ahead to 2026, we’re delighted to be part of the steering group for the new Confined Space Rescue Trade Association (CSRTA). Working alongside experienced professionals from across the sector, we’ll continue to not only provide industry-leading training, but also campaign, collaborate and push for higher standards to make the confined space industry safer for everyone working within it.
2026 will also see us take Brooklyn STS to Perugia in Italy, where David has been invited by the president of the Italian Association of Industrial Emergency and Rescue Professionals (IERESP) to deliver a masterclass to members.
We’ll also be launching a LinkedIn newsletter, full of industry news and advice, so please do make sure you follow the Brooklyn STS page if you want to be kept in the loop.
Finally, a genuine thank you to everyone we’ve worked with this year - from businesses who’ve trusted us with their teams' first aid training, to the engaged learners who throw themselves into every scenario. We’ll try not to think too hard about the 100+ litres of fake blood used in training sessions this year as we tuck into our Christmas turkey and cranberry sauce.
Wishing everyone a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
See you in 2026!
David and the Brooklyn STS team
